Write for us

Modern Venture Guide welcomes thoughtful proposals about the ideas, offers, making, operations and presentation of small independent ventures. A good contribution gives readers something specific to understand or consider without promising easy results.

What we welcome

We consider clear explanations, useful comparisons, carefully framed histories and practical articles about a particular choice or working situation. Pitches should suit a curious general reader and stand on their own without specialist credentials, costly tools or claims that require readers to take financial, legal or safety-critical risks.

A useful pitch

Tell us the proposed title, the central question or idea, who the piece is for and what the reader will understand by the end. Include a short outline and note any sources or examples the article would rely on. Original angles are preferred over broad introductions or lightly altered versions of familiar advice.

Sending a proposal

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please include enough detail for us to understand the shape of the piece. A proposal is not a guarantee of publication, and we do not require unpublished full drafts at the pitching stage.

Our point of view

A venture is made in the choices

We look at the small, visible decisions behind independent work: what it offers, how it is made and what makes its character clear.
